I know, I know… There can never be another Clive. What I'm speaking of is that the newly reimagined Hellraiser may be getting a new director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Dimension project is currently in talks with Martyrs director Pascal Laugier to write and helm the remake. Dimension has been hoping to relaunch the franchise for the past couple of years, hiring a bevy of filmmakers to take a crack at the project, but it seems the studio has finally found the right fit with Laugier. "This is a dream project for me," Laugier said. "I know Clive Barker's work very well, and I would never betray what he has done. Fans are expecting a definitive Hellraiser, and I don't want to take that away from them." The director has been a busy boy lately, sparking controversy, acclaim or both for his festival hit Martyrs, which recently played such festivals as Toronto International and Fantastic Fest. No word yet on when we’ll see this project head into production, but I’ll tell you one thing: I’m less than excited for a Hellraiser sans Doug Bradley, even with someone as talented as Laugier attached to the project.
