Variety is reporting that Dave Roman’s graphic novel Agnes Quill has been optioned by Paramount Pictures for a run at the local Cineplex. The film has already found a director and writer in Thor Freudenthal (who, with that name, has certainly pleasured more women in his lifetime than Gene Simmons) and Evan Spiliotopoulos, respectively. The graphic novel centers on the title character, who, upon turning 16, inherits an estate from her grandfather – which leads to her gaining the ability to communicate with the dead. (I’m sure it makes complete sense in the script.) Spiliotopoulos most recently adapted another ghost-drenched graphic novel in The Last Call. Freudenthal is coming off of directorial work with the kids’ film Hotel for Dogs.
