While reading an article over at Ain’t It Cool News this morning, we at FEARnet came across the tragic news that horror legend Forrest J. Ackerman’s health is in quite a serious state.  This was sad indeed for all of us here at FEARnet, as Mr. Ackerman is responsible not only for the wonderful Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine but also for inspiring a generation of filmmakers and cinephiles alike.  Mr. Ackerman was not just a revolutionary in his heyday but also quite versatile – aside from establishing Famous Monsters he also served as a literary agent for the likes of H.P. Lovecraft and Ray Bradbury, created the fan-favorite horror comic character Vampirella, and on his personal estate – the aptly named Ackermansion - housed an enormous collection of props and memorabilia from horror film history.  These are just a few of Mr. Ackerman’s achievements.  So if you’re not familiar with the man you should definitely become acquainted with the massive chunk of genre history that is Ackerman.  We here at FEARnet are extremely indebted to the man.  And if you feel the same way, we encourage you to send your well wishes to the address below for Mr. Ackerman.  Let's all hope for the best for Mr. Ackerman and his family.
