Scandalous! 'Friday the 13th' Uncut and On Blu-Ray!
Yeah, we all know the urban legend… somewhere out there lies an “uncut” (and I say that as jaded as possible) version of the original Friday the 13th. Actually it’s not really an urban legend, the uncut version of Friday the 13th has been on video before – just not on any form of video you can view in the US, unless it’s in bootleg form or on a region free player of course. We’re happy to announce that Paramount made a very exciting announcement today: they will be releasing Friday the 13th Uncut on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 3rd 2009 (just in time for the Platinum Dunes theatrical release). The disc(s) will contain not just the “never-before-seen” version of the film but audio commentary with director Sean Cunningham, a quartet of featurettes ("Fresh Cuts: New Tales from Friday the 13th," "Man Behind the Legacy: Sean S. Cunningham," "Friday the 13th - Special Reunion," "Lost Tales from Camp Blood - Part 1"), the domestic theatrical trailer, and of course that crystal clear quality you’ve come to expect from your Blu-Ray player. So get ready to own your obligatory special edition version of the original before the obligatory remake comes out and forces you to cleanse yourself with mass amounts of bleach and ammonia.
