Gurinder Chadha sure knows how to do one thing… give films weird friggin’ titles. But when it comes to making horror movies? Eh, the jury’s still out on that one. But time will soon tell – Variety is reporting that Chadha, director of such films as Bend It Like Beckham and Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snoggin (um… Angus – as in the beef or as in the titular fat kid from the 1995 coming-of-age-beauty-is-on-the-inside teen comedy?), has co-written the script for, and is set to direct, the horror-comedy It’s A Wonderful Afterlife. Chadha describes the film – which follows a British-Asian mother whose obsession to marry off her daughter comically leads to serial murder – as a mix of Shaun of the Dead and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Casting is currently underway for Afterlife, which begins lensing in February on a production budget of 10 million. This could be interesting…
