What’s the best part about America? Well if I had to reduce it to just one singular thing – apart from the fact that anyone can be President – then I’d go with the wide-spread philosophy that we can destroy the legacy of any movie, as long as it stars Will Smith. Yup, and nobody believes in this more than Steven Spielberg. The Spiel is currently negotiating a deal to remake Chan Wook Park’s incredibly awesome 2003 revenge-thriller Oldboy…Big Willy Style. Hey, Will Smith isn’t so bad – but seriously? Why does this movie have to be remade? Just watch the one that already exists. It was made in 2003 for God’s sake. It’s not like it’s such a cinematic relic that it’s untouchable by modern audiences, and for people who don’t like foreign films – there aren’t even that many subtitles! Ugh, sorry. Anyways, according to Variety, Spielberg had been looking for an opportunity to make a film with Smith, who would play the kidnapped man if all the pieces fall into place. Hey Stevie, can we just focus on one thing at a time please? Let’s get Tin Tin made first and then we’ll talk. Spielberg is looking for a writer to begin the development process, so don’t be expecting this one too soon.
