Japan’s leading extreme-metal superstars Dir En Grey – who have courted controversy around the world for some of the creepiest, kinkiest videos ever released by a major band, have just turned loose the official video for “Dozing Green,” the next single from their new album Uroboros. The video, which premiered on MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball over the weekend, is timed to coincide with the US release of the album on Wednesday.
The video, reportedly over two months in the making, incorporates a variety of multimedia, including snips of horror Manga The Drifting Classroom by Kazuo Umezu. In light of some of their truly twisted visual concepts for tracks like “Obscure” (one of the most demented videos ever), this one’s relatively tame – the small amount of onscreen carnage is inflicted on stop-motion animated dolls – but as always it’s visually stunning and seriously weird. Oh, and the song’s pretty sweet too.
But don’t just take our word for it… check out the video and an interview with the band at MTV2’s Headbanger’s Blog.
