With Twilight staring at what could be one of the largest opening weekends of the holiday season, it’s no surprise that other studios will be looking to capitalize on the same success in marginally varied ways. At least that appears to be the thinking for producers Michael Birnbaum and Jeremiah Chechik. According to Variety the team has optioned the rights to popular tween vamp book series (sound familiar?) House of Night. While the House of Night series is set for nine installments, it recently just launched the fourth book, Untamed. The series, written by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, revolves around "vampyres" living in our society. They possess a genetic anomaly that manifests itself in some people at puberty. Vampyres are "marked" and sent to the House of Night, a school that offers training necessary to become an adult vampyre. It's Harry Potter meets Twilight!
