So am I the only person who finds it strange that Ghostbusters was released in 1984 and Ghostbusters-mania seems to have JUST swept the country like… um, two months ago!!  With Ghostbusters on the verge of a third film and a highly anticipated video game adaptation on its way (that many are considering to be the series next installment), it seems that no amount of foam-ball-shooting-back-packs can match the clout the ‘Busters have built up over the summer.  And it’s not over.  Because now the Ghostbusters could be well on their way to having their own theme park ride!

Screamscape is reporting that to recognize the 25th Anniversary of the original theatrical release of the film, Sony Pictures Consumer Production Inc has licensed the property for a theme park attraction as well as for video games, toys, t-shirts, comic books and prop replicas (hmmm… so maybe this is clout that foam-ball-shooting-back-packs can match and enough stock for a post ride gift shop?).  For those of you who remember, once upon a time (in the long, long past year of 1990) Universal Studios Florida opened a Ghostbusters show, called "Ghostbusters Spooktacular."  It was then replaced by Twister: The Ride which, again, for those of you who remember was about as fun as Golden Girls: The Ride.  No word yet on whether the Ghostbusters attraction will be the same as Spooktacular or if the attraction will even end up back at Universal.
