Good news this morning for director Breck Eisner, (a.k.a. the son of that cuddly Michael Eisner)... According to The Hollywood Reporter, character actor Timothy Olyphant will be joining Eisner’s current project - a remake of George Romero's 1973 horror flick, The Crazies. Olyphant will take on the role of the town sheriff in the story, which revolves around the inhabitants of a small Kansas town, beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. I'm actually pretty psyched about this. I remember seeing Olyphant a long, long time ago in Go and recently the actor has flourished in projects like Live Free or Die Hard, Deadwood, and even as Agent 47 in the big-screen adapt of videogame Hitman. It'll be nice to see him, with a double-barrel shotgun no doubt (because if there's anything we've been taught by the movies it's that every time something goes wrong in a small town the sheriff always has a double barrel shotgun, with which he starts handing out un-AMA-sanctioned lobotomies). The Crazies will start production early next year.
