Gothic horror music legends Nox Arcana have announced the arrival of their first major venture into the printed weird, The Legend of Darklore Manor and Other Tales of Terror. Published by Monolith Graphics, the book is comprised of thirteen sinister short stories – some of which previously appeared in Dark Realms magazine – and includes the original novella Darklore Manor, itself based on the band’s 2003 concept album of the same name.
Hailed as “a Gothic masterpiece” by fans and critics, the album chronicled the eerie history of a haunted Victorian estate and the horrific events which stained its dark halls red. The novella by Joseph Vargo gives flesh to the ghostly tales told in those songs, and joins with other contributions from Joseph Iorillo and Timothy Bennett to depict “a dark realm of living gargoyles, sinister shadows, diabolical dolls, haunted havens and undead nightmares risen from the grave.” Sounds like a typical weekend around the FEARnet office, but that’s just how we roll here. You can find out more at the Monolith Graphics website. It might be the perfect holiday gift to coax a smile out of that cute but gloomy Goth on your list… well, maybe not a smile. Possibly a slightly less intense sneer of contempt.
