'Jurassic Park 4'? Not in this lifetime...

I wish I had nothing but good news for you this morning but… I don’t.  Remember that fourth-Spielberg-directed Jurassic Park movie we were all promised at least a hundred million times?  Well, according to ComingSoon, you might not want to hold your breath.  At the press junket for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall said this when asked about any developments on the project:  "No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."  I respect that they wouldn’t want to do it without the approval of the late author, but honestly – did Crichton approve that disastrous third movie?  Even the first movie was nothing like Crichton’s novel.  But I can’t say I didn’t see this coming.  With the lack of development JP IV had seen and many a project piling up on Spielberg’s doorstep recently (Oldboy, Hereafter, Tin Tin, Lincoln… just to name a few), maybe it’s for the best…  After all, this Jurassic Park was supposed to center on Laura Dern’s Ellie Satler.  Ugh!
