We love this whole new awakening of vintage music formats like vinyl and even cassette, but this is just damn goofy. In what promises to be one of the most nutty-ass record promotions ever, industrial “super-group” Pigface – whose ranks over the years have included members of Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, REM, Skinny Puppy, Thrill Kill Kult, KMFDM, and Killing Joke – announced today that they will be marking the release of their new album with a very limited edition run (100 copies only) on 8-track tape.

For you young pups out there, 8-tracks were those ugly plastic monstrosities that you often found on the front seat of your stoner uncle's '71 Charger, which broke down constantly and usually ended up propping up the short leg of the coffee table (the tapes, not the car). But don't worry, I'm sure the new record will eventually be available in all the new-fangled formats these kids today seem to enjoy.

Pigface founder Martin Atkins is hosting a series of listening parties all weekend long to promote the new release, and even if you can't be there in person, you can listen in via live stream. Dates and details are available at Atkins' Invisible Records website, so be sure to check it out here.
