If you didn’t get the opportunity to check out the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness screenings, one of the films that really made a splash there was Deadgirl, a zombie film/teen sex comedy hybrid. Deadgirl was written and directed by a couple of fellas by the names of Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel – who, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will be seeing the big-screen again quite soon. Sarmiento and Harel have been tapped by Gold Circle Films to adapt and direct a remake of 2005 Danish thriller Murk. The film ‘revolves around a journalist's investigation into his sister's mysterious death on her wedding night and the whereabouts of her missing fiance’. Sounds pretty straight forward for a pair of guys whose film both shocked and polarized audiences at this year’s TIFF. But who knows? Maybe these guys will be putting their own twisted spin on the film.
