Yes, the Herc-man is back! It may not be Award-caliber material like his last, Something Beneath, but c’mon… it’s Kevin Sorbo for God’s sake. Canadian-based Legacy Filmworks has struck a deal with Arcana Studios to bring five of Arcana’s comic franchises to the big-screen, the first of which being the aforementioned Sorbo project. Sci-fi thriller Paradox follows “a homicide cop (played by Sorbo) on a parallel Earth ruled by magic who investigates a series of murders committed by a previously unseen means: the power of science.” I’m not sure what that means exactly (feel free to chime in with your own interpretation below) but if you couldn’t tell before – I’m pretty much head of the Kevin Sorbo fan club, and I’m from the school of thought that if Sorbo’s in it, it probably doesn’t need to make sense. Stargate: Atlantis vet Brenton Spencer will direct the film. The other projects that fall under the umbrella of the Legacy and Arcana deal are Chopper, a thriller based on a Martin Shapiro comic that hopes to go before cameras next month, and Sundown, a Western vampire thriller scheduled for an April or May start. No word yet on when Paradox will head before cameras...
