Sad news today Watchmen watchers. Fox, the studio that last week won the Watchmen battle and maintained copyright entitlement, is supposedly delaying the theatrical release of the long awaited film adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic Watchmen graphic novel. According to HollywoodReporter.com, Fox is seeking an injunction against the March 6, 2009 release date pushing back the film for an undetermined length of time.
But in this world of superhero films, supervillian studios want to release the self-referential, anti-superhero movies they worked hard and spent mucho-bucks to make, so Warner Bros. is saying they won’t lie down without a fight, vying for another trial and possibly an appeal to last week’s US District Court Judge Gary Feess’ decision. Keep it here for more developments on the status of Watchmen.
