Well jump on the FEARtrain to Tron-town where intercomputer mayhem is all the rage and Garrett Hedlund is leading the pack! According to HollywoodReporter.com today, Hedlund (Death Sentence) has been chosen as the Tron lead, “a man who finds himself pulled into the world of a computer retracing the steps of a character from the original movie named Kevin Flynn.” Hedlund and his role are new to the Tron mythos. But no worries, some old favorites like Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner are slated to reprise their roles for some good ol’ fashion gladiatorial gaming in the sequel to the 1982 cult favorite of the same title. For a while there the Tron sequel was labeled Tron 2 or Tr2n, but more recently, it seems that the studio is referring to the project as simply, Tron—I love it when they come to their senses and remove sequel-numbers out of their random placement in the middle of words—I’m looking at you The D2scent! While no specific release date is attached to the Tron sequel, it’s slated for sometime in 2011. We’ve got a long way to go guys…
