Get 'Hexed' for Free!

Hexed

So I'm walking into my comic shop tonight, as I do every Wednesday, and guess what new comic I can't find a copy of? Yep, Hexed, the hot new title about a gal named Lucifer, who happens to be a thief operating in the occult underground. The book's from Boom! Studios, and it's been described as "The New Buffy" (by The Express Times) and Hellblazer as imagined by J.J. Abrams (Comic Book Resources). But I'm not sweating the fact that I couldn't pick up a copy. Why? Because those generous goons at Boom! are offering the whole dang thing for free on Myspace! Having offered comics fans a similar deal last year with North Wind and finding their generosity rewarded with a sell-out first issue, they're doing it again with Hexed. And based on my comic-shop experience tonight, I'd say history's repeating itself.

You can settle down and watch TV tonight if you want, but I'm checking this book out. It's scripted by Michael Alan Nelson, of the acclaimed Fall of Cthulhu, and, best of all, sports art by newcomer Emma Rios, whose gorgeous pencils suggest she's the bio-engineered bastard child of Darwyn Cooke and Aeon Flux creator Peter Chung. Oh, yeah, each successive issue will also be offered free online by Boom!. Yes, new comics Wednesday is looking better than ever.
