Baaad Baby Births Box-Office Gold for 'The Unborn'!
On Friday, January 9th, The Unborn baby finally reared its ugly womb-wedged head and ended up holding on against pretty fierce competition! According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, the horror flick helmed by David Goyer placed at number 3 for the weekend and grossed a surprising $21,095,000! Squared up to other winter horror releases in previous years, The Unborn did pretty well compared to the 2008 One Missed Call’s meager $15 million opening weekend, The Messenger’s $15 million opening weekend in 2007, Boogeyman’s $19 million in 2005 and The Eye’s $12 million opening weekend earnings in 2008. Additionally, against recent demonic kid flicks like The Omen in 2006, The Unborn again far exceeded the spawn-of-Satan remake which only grossed a scant $16 million in its opening weekend.
Other horror releases this weekend included After Dark’s Horrorfest III 8 films To Die For.
