Oh, Daniel Myrick, you are leading a charmed life, aren't you? After your breakthrough smash The Blair Witch Project, you slid into something far worse than just a sophomore slump, producing the godawful Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. Lambasted, but undeterred, and against all odds, you fought back -- trudging through the direct-to-video sewers, and directing titles like Believers and Solstice. And now you're back, and you're garnering critical praise, you lucky dog!
Yep, folks, Myrick's latest directorial effort, The Objective, hits theaters in limited release and VOD on February 4th, thanks to IFC Entertainment. The Objective concerns a team of Special Ops reservists who, in the wake of 9/11, stumble into Afghanistan in search of nukes, only to find something much worse than Al-Qaida.
The Objective was an official selection of this year's Tribeca, Sundance, and Berlin Film Festivals.
Well played, Mr. Myrick. Well played.
