You’d think if your film was nominated for 13 Academy Awards you’d gain an ounce of respect. Not so in Hollywood these days since David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Zodiac) may not get the go-ahead on the long awaited Torso, an adaptation of a Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Andreyko graphic novel. According to HollywoodReporter.com, Paramount has had the project on deck since January 2006 but has since let the rights option on the underlying graphic novel lapse. It seems Paramount is too busy gearing up for their planned 3D takeover of America (link to article from earlier) with Monsters vs. Aliens to give Fincher the greenlight on a now limbo-ed project! After the mostly positive reception of serial killer/crime-thriller Zodiac, expectations were high for Fincher’s adaptation of crime-thriller, Torso, about the Treasury Department agent Eliot Ness after his Al Capone Days. According to the report, the project is shelved for now, but originally drew interest from stars like Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. Sorry Fincher. At least your “void of upcoming projects” hands will be free to grab all those Oscars.
