'The Day the Earth Stood Still' Director Tapped to Guard 'Hyperion'

Scott Derrickson (co-writer, Exorcism of Emily Rose, director, The Day the Earth Stood Still) has recently been tapped to direct Hyperion Cantos, according to Variety.com. The film, to be scripted by Trevor Sands, combines Dan Simmon’s sci-fi novels, Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion, into one film. The story follows a space war that threatens the planet Hyperion, known for large time-traveling artifacts called Time Tombs, viciously guarded by a gruesome monster, Shrike.
