Platinum Dunes producing partners Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and Michael Bay have become the go-to guys for high-profile horror remakes. Their new take on Friday the 13th has horror fanboys (and fangirls) everywhere talking, and the team is busily prepping their next two releases -- re-imaginings of A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Birds. At today's Friday the 13th press junket in LA, we asked Form and Fuller for a progress report on both of their next projects. Here's what they had to say...
"Nightmare's our next movie," says Form. "We're close on a director. Hopefully that movie's shooting in twelve weeks, so that's the project that we're full speed ahead on right now." "We don't have a Freddy," continues Fuller. "We want to get a director on the movie first, and then take it from there. So it's all about who's directing the film right now, and we have a couple of guys that we're close with."
"The Birds...," explains Fuller, "Martin Campbell's in post-production on a movie he just directed, and we're inching closer. He's working on the screenplay while he's editing this film. Martin's been developing the script. We're so happy that he's involved. That guy's amazing. We love him."
With these two additional franchises now under the PD team, might we some day see Freddy vs. Jason vs. The Birds?
"Versus Leatherface," adds a deadpan Fuller.
"In the Amityville Horror house," says a straightfaced Form.
Fuller provides the punchline: "With Sean Bean hitching by. And then an upside-down dog. Then you would really have to know all of our movies!"
