Stephen vs. Stephenie: Write Fight 2009!
Stephen King is a horror icon, a prolific writer, a sick pup -- and a KING himself, some would say. So how does "the King" feel about two princess novelists that come off as royal jesters? In a chat with USA Today, King talked briefly about J.K. Rowling (creator of the Harry Potter series) and Stephenie Meyer (creator of the Twilight series) and as expected, King is NOT on the side of 14-year-old girls across America. "Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people," says King. "The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good." Dissed by the King himself! Ouch. If anything, the King-diss gave us a nice chuckle. That was until we realized nothing can take away that $400 million worldwide Twilight gross. Nothing. And that’s the true burn.
