Nothing wakes a FEARnet reporter up on a Friday morning (after a night of traveling from our new HQ in Los Angeles to New York City) like the brilliant smile of Eve Myles. The Torchwood star is in New York this weekend to promote Season 3 of her hit BBC America show, and we were lucky enough to score an exclusive interview with Myles and her director, Euros Lyn, who will be helming Torchwood's third-season story "Children of Earth". The epic season-long tale will run five episodes, broadcast five nights in a row in the U.K., and we just learned that BBC America hopes to premiere it here in the States on the same date it premieres overseas later this year -- which would be a first for the U.S. network.
We also learned from Myles that Children of Earth will, on one level, take its cue from the show's first season cannibal-hillbillies episode, "Countrycide", in dealing with mankind's savagery. And director Lyn tells us that it will share some similarites with such classic U.K. genre tales as Village of the Damned and the Quatermass stories.
We'll have our complete interviews with Myles and Lyn up soon (the two will take the NYCC stage tomorrow, on a special Torchwood panel), as well as lots more from New York Comic Con 2009, but for now we wanted to share this little news nugget with you, as well as the brand-new trailer for "Children of Earth" -- and of our course our exclusive shot of one of Myles' charming smiles!
