'Army of the Dead' Stalls for 'The Thing'

We first told you about Army of the Dead in 2007 when it was unclear if director Zack Snyder’s Watchmen (300, Dawn of the Dead) was even going to be his next project. Army tells the tale of a ‘quarantined Las Vegas in the not-too-distant future in which a father tries to save his daughter from imminent death in a zombie-infested world’. Here we are in 2009 and Snyder's got so much on his plate he doesn’t even know what to dish out next. In a recent interview with Collider.com Snyder reveals that he may not return to the world of zombies so soon since planned Army of the Dead director Matthijs van Heijningen will first tackle a remake of The Thing delaying any further progress on Army. The interview is also full of tasty tidbits on future projects like The Illustrated Man and Heavy Metal.
