Japan’s powerfully sinister metal act Dir En Grey are following up the massive international success of their surreal and groundbreaking 2008 album Uroboros with a new DVD release entitled A Knot Of – the first ever official DVD for North American audiences...
The DVD content, previously only available to fan-club members, is a document of the band’s performances from 2005 through 2007, described as “a grievous journey through three of the most tasking years for the 5 who make the band.”
The disc is also available in three slightly different versions: the North American edition will contain bonus track “Hydra -666-“ and includes an exclusive promotional sticker, while the European release contains “The Deeper Vileness” and the Japanese disc features a bonus performance of the totally insane “Clever Sleazoid” (one of my personal faves).
The live footage focuses mainly on Dir En Grey’s December 2007 show at Zepp in Tokyo, but also includes performances from the “It Withers and Withers” and “Marrow of a Bone” tours; Germany’s legendary Wacken Open Air; Korn’s 2006 “Family Values” tour; Finland’s Ankkarock Festival and the band’s celebrated US tour with Deftones.
Knot is available now, but the band plans on releasing yet another official DVD on April 29. The Rose Trims Again focuses on the band’s 2008 Uroboros tour, and will be available as a single DVD and a 3-disc limited edition. More details on that one coming soon!
