Friday the 13th hottie Danielle Panabaker has joined the cast of The Crazies, director Breck Eisner's upcoming remake of George Romero's lunatics-on-the-loose picture. Panabaker is joined by The Ruins' Joe Anderson, another cast newbie -- as well as the previously announced Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) and Timothy Olyphant.
As in the original, Scott Kosar and Ray Wright's script focuses on a small town that, well, gets a little nuts after a plane crashes in its vicinity, causing a biological weapon to leak into its water supply.
According to a press release from Overture, the studio behind the film, Panabaker "plays Becca, a receptionist at the town's medical center where Mitchell is a doctor." While Anderson "takes on the role of the town's deputy, with Olyphant playing the sheriff."
Principle photography will begin March 5th in Georgia, with additional shooting taking place in Iowa. And Romero himself will be an executive producer.
