Last week the Egyptian Theater American Cinematheque in LA hosted a panel discussion with horror masters Wes Craven, Tobe Hooper, Mick Garris, Stuart Gordon and William Malone before a screening of Malone's latest horror flick Parasomnia. The topic of discussion was art and how art influences the horror director. It was an interesting discussion that we'll have more on shortly, but for now, we wanted to hand you off a tidbit that Craven dished out on how they visualized the killer in his latest directorial effort, 25/8...

Craven: "We have a very talented storyboard artist on a picture I'm doing now, 25/8 which will be coming out later this year and we're doing an additional shoot and I said to my wife Iya (a producer) I still don't quite know what this guy looks like and I said let's get a conceptual artist. And we said this is what the man's like, this is where he comes from, he's kind of this figure that lives under the river, sleeps under the bridges deep in the woods and he's been that way for 16 years and he eats bark, y'know? And he came back the next day with the fabulous rendering working in Photoshop and it was like there he is wow. This is a case where someone with a visual imagination just comes in and pushes forth ideas and everyone sparks off of that."

Interesting...Craving more Craven (sorry, I had to do that), the Cinematheque will be hosting a screening of the Craven classic A Nightmare on Elm Street at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica on Sunday March 29th with Craven in attendance providing a live audio commentary!
