With Race to Witch Mountain topping the box office and news streaming in on his executive producer role in the remake of Val Lewton’s I Walked with a Zombie, our buddy Andy Fickman is all over the news today like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is all over PG family dramedies! According to Variety.com, Walt Disney Studios has tapped Fickman, the Race to Witch Mountain director, for another family adventure film, Monster Attack Network. The pic is an adaptation of the 2007 graphic novel from Marc Bernardin, Adam Freeman and Nima Sorat about a Pacific Island paradise that would be an absolute utopia if not for the constant sea-monster attacks. The story centers on a team of first-responders who guard the citizens of the island, Lapuatu. The report indicates that Scott Elder and Josh Harmon have been hired to adapt the script which is viewed by Disney as a tentpole for visual effects.
From Race to Witch Mountain to a "race to monster island", aye Fickman? We’re just saying, if ex-wrestler Johnson has starred in both Fickman’s The Game Plan and Race to Witch Mountain, I’m thinking he’d make a perfect “first-respondent” with attitude…or ridiculous sea-monster in Monster Attack Network. You’ve seen Scorpion King. Now who’s with me?
