Rob Zombie in Talks for 'Heavy Metal' Redux?

Remember when we mentioned the possibility of a new Heavy Metal animated movie being tossed around the Hollywood buzz-chamber along with names like David (Se7en) Fincher and Gore (The Ring) Verbinski? Well, not only is it still a possibility, but it appears that another name has emerged in hushed circles... according to ShockTillYouDrop, another name might be added to the mix: Rob Zombie. Zombie, who also announced on his blog today that production on Halloween 2 is just two more days from wrapping, was apparently asked by the producers of the cult-classic remake (including franchise owner Kevin Eastman) about the possibility of working on one of the segments. On the H2 set, Rob's producer Andy Gould told STYD they suggested he might create "something that could fuse his story with his music.”

Rob's got his share of experience in the world of animation, having cut his fangs on the hallucination sequences in the Beavis and Butt-Head movie, and later directing the adults-only animated feature The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. Take note that Zombie hasn't been officially offered this gig yet (he only briefly discussed the possibility), but we'll keep our eyes and ears open...
