According to MTV Splash Page, the rumored 30 Days of Night sequel is headed for some serious Dark Days. But in the horror biz, heading for Dark Days isn’t as grim as it would otherwise seem. 30 Days of Night creator, Steve Niles told MTV news, “There will be a sequel. The script is in.” Niles worked with Ben Ketai—of FEARnet’s own Devil’s Trade and of course, 30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust—on the script, intended for a direct-to-DVD release...

Niles also told the site that the script is based on Dark Days, part of the graphic novel franchise, about Stella Olemaun who heads to Los Angeles, California after surviving the Barrow, Alaska vampire attack to avenge her husband’s death by going head to toothy-head with local LA vampires (aren’t they all).

With the sequel releasing direct-to-DVD, some fans might be skeptical of where the film adaptation franchise of the popular graphic novel is headed, but Niles is more than optimistic.

“This way we’d be able to do all the comics,” said Niles. “We won’t have the massive competition of the box office, and theoretically, we could move on to ‘Return to Barrow’ and to the other series and short stories.”

The only question now is, who is at the bloody-happy helm? With Slade busy sinking his teeth into Twilight’s third franchise installment, Eclipse, will he return to the 30 Days of Night franchise for Dark Days? Should he? You tell us…
