No need to pinch yourself folks. You’re not dreaming, nor is this a cruel nightmare. News comes to us today from HollywoodReporter.com that Tom Holland’s Fright Night is about to receive the ‘ol remake treatment. News of this particular remake has been floating around the genre world for quite sometime, but today’s report not only confirms the news, it gives us an idea of who will lead the Fright Night brigade! Instead of getting scooped up by a remake power-house like Platinum Dunes, Dreamworks will employ the help of producers Michael Gaeta (Angel Heart), Alison Rosenzweig (Windtalkers) and Michael De Luca (Blade II, Ghost Rider). The studio recently received acclaim for releases, The Uninvited and The Ruins. And lest we forget, Dreamworks is the same studio that brought us The Ring remake in 2002 for a $390 million worldwide gross. Given their track record, do you have faith in Dreamworks to restore, renew and reimagine Fright Night?
As of today, no writer has been hired to modernize the story about a teen that discovers his neighbor is a vampire. You can catch the ORIGINAL Fright Night on FEARnet right now for FREE.
