While visiting the set of Platinum Dunes A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot (currently filming in Chicago) fellow genre journos from Shock Till You Drop prodded producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller for a status update on a Friday the 13th sequel, and boy did they get one. Hit the jump for the full story, and as an added bonus, we have an exclusive FEARnet video interview with Jason himself, Derek Mears.
Form and Fuller tell STYD:
"If we're going to do another Friday the 13th we want to present something audiences haven't seen before and one of the things they haven't seen before is Jason in the snow. We just want to bring things they haven't seen before," although that does not mean, "the [entire] movie will not be set in the snow."
"If we were vulnerable in Friday the 13th, I think our vulnerability is people think our kills were not clever enough," he said. "So whatever we need to do to make our kills feel clever in our second film is what we're going to do."
If Jason knows what to do with a machete, we can only assume he knows what to do with a shovel. Check in with Shock Till You Drop for the full story, and check out our exclusive interview with Derek Mears below (Hit this interview with Derek here if you're looking for a little more meat on what Derek may or may not know about the sequel).
FEARnet will be in Chicago next week (::wink::) so be sure to check back soon for more news as its surely to develop soon.
