This spring's The Haunting in Connecticut apparently fared better than anticipated. The Hollywood Reporter just announced that the film's done well enough for producer Gold Circle to develop a follow-up, The Haunting in Georgia.

The sleeper hit focused on a family who moves to the New England state and encounters supernatural phenomena. The new film, says HR, "will follow a somewhat similar path [to the original's] but with a new family in a new state."

Horror helmer Ti West has already signed on to direct Georgia. (Peter Cornwell was responsible for the original film), with David Coggeshall -- screenwriter of Gold Circle's upcoming Solo -- scripting. Lionsgate, which distributed Connecticut, may do so again with Georgia, though as of yet no deals have been announced.

Connecticut opened to mixed reviews from critics, but what do you think? Is a sequel justified?
