Slipknot has just posted a nifty little video letter to their fans announcing the upcoming reissue of their self-titled 1999 album, which was their first full-length release on a major label. The announcement, addressed to the camera by vocalist Corey Taylor and drummer Joey Jordison (with other band members lurking ominously in the background), reveals a few interesting details about the 10th Anniversary release, and you can get the straight dope from their masked mouths after the jump!
Scheduled for release on September 9th (taking advantage of the groovy triple-nine calendar date), the 10th Anniversary edition of Slipknot will be supplemented with what Taylor describes as “deep cuts from the vault,” as well as a video chronicle of the band’s chaotic, bizarre early years.
Celebrating a decade of “life, death, love, hate, pain, scars, victory, war, blood and destruction,” the reissue is presumably not a sign of the band’s career coming full-circle, but just the first of many milestones. "Ten years is a long time for this band,” says Taylor, “and it's gonna be another ten years… so enjoy it."
