Casting announcements for Maria in Twilight: Eclipse and a priestess in Priest, along with some fairly solid news on the Poltergeist remake, dig into our latest news bits…

Priest Finds His Priestess
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maggi Q (Live Free or Die Hard) has joined Paul Bettany (Legion) and Cam Gigandet (Twilight, Pandorum) in Scott Stewart’s (Legion) adaptation of the Tokyo Pop graphic novel Priest. Q will play ‘priestess -- a vampire hunter as tough as the priests -- who also joins Bettany.’ Priest follows a warrior priest (the best kind of priest) who rejects the church to find his kidnapped niece in a world devastated by centuries of war with vampires.

Judging by the age-restricted trailer we brought to you yesterday for Stewart's Legion, I’d say that this is definitely one to keep an eye out for.

Poltergeist Remake, Sooner Than You Think?
Our friends at Shock Till you Drop have confirmed that MGM’s Poltergeist remake will be released Thanksgiving weekend Nov 24th 2010. STYD also confirms that Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) is still set to direct and that no cast has been announced yet.

Eclipse Finds Maria
THR Risky Business Blog is reporting that Twilight: Eclipse has found their Maria. Yesterday we told you that Eastwick’s Jack Huston will take on the role of Royce King II and today we’ve learned that Catalina Sandino Moreno (Che) will take on the role of the vampire character Maria. According to THR ‘Maria tries to create a newborn army of vampires, recruiting the Confederate soldier Jasper to her cause. In Stephenie Meyer's book, the character is described as a petite brunette with a soft voice.’ Be sure to check out our Eclipse casting predictions before all of the roles are eaten up and the article becomes obsolete!
