FrightFest UK has apparently pleased genre folk so much with their yearly festival that they've decided to start their on horror DVD line. Hit the jump for full details.
According to Variety, 'The fest team is in advanced negotiations with French producer-distributor Wild Bunch to launch a DVD label in February with the intention of releasing 12-15 titles a year in the U.K.'
This is actually great news for genre fans. With indie horror DVD labels experiencing a really tough time, the addition of a new label promising to release (what appears to be) at least 1 (what will hopefully be) quality title a month is reason enough to rejoice. It sounds like they want to start releasing the films that would normally be picked up by studios only to be shown little to no love before being dumped quietly on DVD. Can a US distribution arm be that far behind?
This years FrightFest is just around the corner, showing films like Dave Parker's The Hills Run Red, Smash Cut, Argento's latest Giallo and a remastered print of An American Werewolf in London. More info on FrightFest at their official site.
