The weekend numbers are in, and for the second straight week in a row, a new horror film has failed to make a big impact at the box office. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, Overture's 40-million-dollar-budgeted Pandorum grossed just $4,408,000 dollars, landing in the number 6 spot of the top 10, well behind the top two films, Sony's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Disney's The Surrogates, which earned 24.6 and 15 million dollars, respectively.
Fox's Jennifer's Body continued to underperform, grossing just 3.5 million as it fell to the number 8 spot, with a cume of just $12,306,000.
But hope springs eternal. This friday sees the release of Sony's Zombieland (the most entertaining film I've seen this year). Will the film's mix of comedy and horror succeed where Jennifer's Body and Drag Me to Hell have failed? Stay tuned, folks.
