Variety has been hitting us pretty hard the past couple of days with some interesting casting and distribution news. The first three tidbits below all come from Variety.
Unknown White Male
First up we have casting news for Jaume Collet-Serra's (Orphan) upcoming flick Unknown White Male. January Jones and Diane Kruger have signed to star alongside Liam Neeson in the thriller which is about 'a man who awakens from a coma to find that someone else has assumed his identity, and no one, including his wife, believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is.'
Jones will play Neeson's wife, who gets caught up in a conspiracy regarding her husband. Kruger will play a Berlin taxi driver and Neeson's unexpected ally.
Faces in the Crowd
Hot on the heels of her upcoming film The Fourth Kind and the recent announcement of the latest Resident Evil flick Afterlife, Milla Jovovich will star in Julien Magnat's (Bloody Mallory) Faces in the Crowd.
Story centers on 'a woman who barely survives an attack by a serial killer and wakes up in hospital with a head injury that leaves her "face-blind." No longer able to recognize faces, she must navigate a world in which facial features change each time she loses sight of them. All the while the killer is closing in, determined to eliminate the potential witness.'
Paranormal Activity
Paranormal Activity is going global! The little film that could and sold almost immediately at last years AFM has gone on to gross well over 60M at the US box office and is now on its way to cross the 100M mark. Apparently Russia, Spain and several Asian territories have already licensed or are licensing local-language remake and sequel right and on Halloween night, "Paranormal" will begin showing in the U.K. Through various distribution outlets the pic is scheduled to open in Russia, Scandinavia, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Latin America, Australia and more through the month of November. Cha-ching!
Mortis Rex
Let's take a quick break from Variety now and head on over to Screen Daily reporting that US producer Jim Jacks (Mummy franchise, A Simple Plan) has signed on to the supernatural action thriller Mortis Rex. The film is scheduled to begin shooting in Spring 2010 in the UK, Italy and Eastern Europe.
'Hellboy co-writer Peter Briggs makes his feature directorial debut on the story of a disgraced Roman soldier who is given the chance to redeem himself when he investigates a spate of brutal murders.'
