'The Howling Reborn' - Director Named
Like a group of starving sharks, horror fans have been circling The Howling reboot for quite some time now. Word came in over the weekend from Variety that the reboot (titled The Howling: Reborn) has now found its director: Joe Nimziki. Who?
Exactly. According to the Variety report, 'Joe Nimziki, who worked at New Line, MGM and Sony, will make his feature directorial debut from his own script.' Producers are aiming to shoot in Feb for a Halloween release. No plot details have been revealed.
Is this a passion project or quick cash in on a familiar title/brand? One of the things that worked so well in the original was Dante's mix of humor and horror, much like the success that John Landis had with An American Werewolf in London the same year.
Listen up Mr. Nimziki... Put your own stamp on it, do everything in your power to break out a new The Howling for a new generation, but whatever you do, please don't rape the franchise any worse than it has been already. That is all.
