According to the latest update from Rob Zombie, Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has signed on to handle live percussion duties on Rob's busy spring & summer 2010 tour – which will include the upcoming “Gruesome Twosome” shows with fellow shock-rocker Alice Cooper. Hit the jump and find out what Rob and Joey had to say about this diabolical team-up...

In a new blog post, Rob declared his excitement at having Jordison onboard: “I am thrilled to have him as part of the Zombie family,” he reported. “His amazing skills promise to take the live show to a whole new level of insanity."

Jordison will first man the skins for the Zombie crew during Rob's performance at the Revolver Golden Gods awards show on April 8th, and continues on with Rob for the short-run Canada/US “Gruesome Twosome” show with Cooper. The band will then continue to the Rockstar Mayhem Festival (which Zombie is co-headlining with Korn) in July and August. No word yet on why drummer Tommy Clufetos – longtime collaborator with both Rob and Alice’s bands – is sitting out the upcoming venues.

Jordison also weighed in on the new gig: “I've been a fan of Zombie's since the beginning,” he said. “When [guitarist] John 5 called me up to ask if I knew any drummers I could recommend, I said, only half-jokingly, 'Yeah, me!'” He also went on to thank Slipknot fans for their support, and Zombie's fans for welcoming him to the fold. “The Demonoid Phenomenon is on its way!” he declared.
