Dope Stars Inc. Launch 'It's Today' Video
The new video for It's Today – the latest single from 21st Century Slave by Italian electro-rockers Dope Stars Inc. – recently made its online debut, and you can watch it right here below the jump. Last summer we reviewed their ambitious futuristic concept album, which has been pulling in plenty of praise since its premiere, and the new video is the first to bring the band's vision of a high-tech dystopia to life. No strangers to all things dark and doomy, Dope Stars are already well-known to genre fans thanks to their music's frequent appearances in three Saw soundtrack albums – but their latest project demonstrated the band's ability to create their own sinister fantasy world, presenting a monolithic high-tech corporate villain known as Megacorps, against which cyber-savvy rebel forces use technology to fight the oppressor from within.
Directed by Carlo Roberti for Solobuio Visual Factory, the new video for their more pop-flavored anthem dramatizes the struggle of the “Digital Warriors” by presenting a chilling glimpse of the world in which our anti-heroes must battle to survive. It looks like they're laying the groundwork for more, so keep an eye out for the next chapter.
After a successful European tour to promote 21st Century Slave, the DSI gang went right back to work on a new album, which they hope to release sometime in October. In the meantime, check out It's Today below and let us know what you think!
