With so many Tim Burton projects rumored or announced right now, it helps to have some kind of clarification as to the director's priorities. Last week, we reported that Burton will soon helm a 3-D stop-motion-animated film based on Charles Addams' original Addams Family cartoons. Some of you may have been scratching your heads at this news -- wasn't Burton's next animated film supposed to be a feature-length version of his live-action short Frankenweenie? Your clarity awaits after the jump.

Over at Aint It Cool News, Harry Knowles mentions something he heard from the feature-length Frankenweenie's executive producer, Don Hahn, who was at SXSW last week for Waking Sleeping Beauty, the documentary he directed on the second golden age of Disney animated films (the features of the late '80s and early '90s). Knowles says that Hahn, speaking after a screening, remarked that "the puppets are ready, the script is done and now that Tim Burton is clear of ALICE IN WONDERLAND... he's set to helm FRANKENWEENIE in 3D."

It thus appears likely we can look forward to Frankenweenie next. Unless of course Burton decides a feature-length Count Chocula film should be fast tracked.
