Artist, singer/songwriter, Oh My Goth creator and friend of FEARnet Voltaire has released his newest creation, the stop-motion short DemiUrge Emesis.  While it’s always nice to see more of Voltaire’s whimsical Goth animation, what really got our attention was the film’s narrator: film composer extraordinaire Danny Elfman, in a rare non-singing role.

We asked Voltaire about what it was like working with Elfman. Find his reply and the short itself after the jump.

"I can't begin to tell you what a privilege and an honor it was to work with Danny Elfman,” Voltaire told FEARnet exclusively. “He was an absolute prince. He's a real pro and was extremely welcoming and easy to work with. I think very few people know him for his speaking voice. We all know him as a composer or the lead singer of Oingo Boingo or as the singing voice of 'Jack Skellington.' I think maybe he himself doesn't know he has a great speaking voice [too].

“When you hear his narration in the film I think you'll agree with me that he has a tremendously rich and colorful and charismatic voice. I'm just absolutely thrilled with the final product. And needless to say, just being in the same room with such an amazing talent was a dream all in itself."

DemiuUrge Emesis depicts the painful process of the artist at work, in the form of a mummified cat with an upset stomach. The short is the latest in Voltaire’s “Chimerascope” series, and features music by cello-rock trio Rasputina. It premiered last Thursday on the Small & Creepy Films website, where you can find more of his work, along with other strange and twisted films.
