OK, anyone who reads this site with any frequency knows my undying love for Splatterhouse, and my heated anticipation for its reboot due out this fall. Well, what better event than E3 for Namco to show us more of the upcoming reimagining of the story of a boy and his sentient mask? More after the break!
Thanks to our sister site G4, we’ve got three different videos for you to choose from, including a cinematic trailer and two gameplay montages. The story trailer shows us that Namco ain’t messing around with the thin thread of story: Rick still needs to rescue his girlfriend from the halls of a mad scientist’s mansion with the help of the Terror Mask, although the tone for this new game is decidedly more new-school.
The gameplay, however, seems to actually be retreating back into its roots. Several sequences appear to be locked in a side-scrolling perspective with an emphasis placed on platforming elements. The old-school effect continues with the reveal that Biggy Man will be making a much-needed appearance! Yay!
Splatterhouse is out Fall 2010 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3
