Remember way back when, when we revealed that American McGee was working on a sequel to the title that gave him true infamy: American McGee’s Alice?  Well, they’ve streamlined the once-clunky title (The Return of American McGee’s Alice?  Really?) down to the terse Alice: Madness Returns.  Nice.  Even nicer is the teaser that shows that the years haven’t softened our girl’s lunacy one bit…check it out after the break!

Set shortly after the first game, Madness Returns sees Alice released from her room in the asylum and into the care of a psychiatrist.  Unfortunately for Alice, her insanity won’t be quieted, and so she returns to Wonderland to seek out the root of the problem.  Much like the first game, however, Wonderland is having the same problems as she is, and it’s up to Alice to save both Wonderland and herself from her encroaching madness.

OK, it genuinely takes quite a bit to make me uneasy, but the sight of Alice’s blood spewing maw and her teeth falling out hit a certain chord with me…and the new, zombified Card Guards?  Eerie.  You can check out a slew of screenshots and concept art over at the game’s official website.

Alice: Madness Returns will be out in 2011 for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3.
