A while back we tipped you off to the new “sinister and bad-ass” Zombie EP from Ohio metalcore superstars The Devil Wears Prada, and now the band has announced more cool stuff to go along with it – namely a limited edition comic book, appropriately titled Zombie: The EP Comic, based on the characters and stories depicted in the 6-track disc, which itself was creatively inspired by Max Brooks' best-selling books The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z. More brain-chompin' details await below!
The band called on some big names in zombie and cult genre lore to assemble the 14-page comic: it's written by J.L. Bourne – whose best known work is the cult classic Day by Day Armageddon: A Zombie Novel – and illustrated by Kevin Mellon, whose own Gearhead comic series is now in the works as a feature film. “We thought doing a comic book as a companion to the Zombie EP was a natural and fitting idea,” says TDWP frontman Mike Hranica. “We love that Zombie: The EP Comic is not a CD booklet, but a full-sized, stylized, superhero comic book that stands on its own.”
Zombie: The EP Comic will be available either as part of a pre-order Zombie EP bundle from the band's own merch site here and here, or as an exclusive item at Hot Topic on August 24th.
