'The Loved Ones' - Do Watch This Trailer

Last month, a trailer for the inspired Aussie horror flick The Loved Ones hit the web. It revealed so much of the main plot that a single viewing would easily spoil the film's sickest, most twisted twists.

Like many others I warned you not to watch it, and from the comments here and on Facebook I know many of you listened. So, apparently did the distributor, as this week they've released a new "teaser clip" that is more restrained - and consequently that much more effective.

Bloody, Fango, AICN...that's a lot of high praise, and I agree with almost all of it. As would our lead critic, Scott Weinberg, who called it "slick, quick, and surprisingly intense." The film can be fairly described as "prom date from hell." Or as the official blurb puts it:

BRENT (Xavier Samuel) has never recovered from the night of the car crash that killed his father; the crash that he was responsible for.

His only solace is his loving girlfriend HOLLY (Victoria Thaine).

But there’s another girl who yearns to comfort Brent, the quietest girl in school LOLA (Robin McLeavy), and when he turns down her invitation to the prom he enters a nightmare beyond imagining.

But before you get your hopes up, be warned that the October 28 date is for Australian cinemas. No word yet of a US release, but here's hoping...
