Available for download today is the horror documentary The Splat Pack which takes a look at horror filmmakers from 2000 on (dubbed The Splat Pack) who, fed up with PG-13 'safe' 90's horror upped the ante with the levels of gore and sadism in their horror flicks. The Splat Pack is a documentary that looks back at the first decade of 21st Century horror films and a core group of filmmakers who re-energized the genre. These directors were dubbed “The Splat Pack,” by UK film critic Alan Jones because their films displayed new and intense levels of gore. The Splat Pack proved that R-rated horror could be commercially and critically successful.
